Our wedding invitations are in from 4by6.com! I went back to Paper Source to restock on paper for our envelope liners, and I found this map paper—perfect for a destination wedding. Now we just have a little bit of crafting left to do to get the rest of these babies mailed out!

Maternity Photos | Erin (and twins!)

I had the honor of photographing Erin’s maternity shots earlier this week. I have to give her so much credit—for someone who is about to give birth to twin girls, she was totally up for getting adventurous with out shoot. Congratulations, Erin! I can’t wait to meet the girls.

And definitely read about Erin’s journey if you the chance. Those twins are two very special ladies.

The Word Project

A few of you expressed interest in taking part in the (hereby reinstated) Word Project that I started with Stephanie Zilles in 2009. Here’s how it works—every Wednesday, I’ll post dictionary.com’s word of the day to the Word Project Flickr Group and my own site. We then have exactly one week to create an interpretive photo based on that word. Submit it to the Flickr group, post it to your blog (just be sure to share the link) or send it to me by the next Tuesday at 8:00 PM CST, and I’ll create a photo collage (with photo credit, of course) to compare what everyone has come up with based on that word.

You can participate as often as you like—once per week, once per month, once in a while. You decide. But I’m going to post the word and previous week’s collection of photos every Wednesday.

Let me know if you’re interested, or if you have any other ideas about how we can manage the Word Project. I’m looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with, and I’d love to turn this into some sort of gallery project someday, where we can all gather together sipping wine and finding inspiration.

I’ve been craving a creative challenge, so I decided it was time to combine a few past photography assignments from classes I’ve taken to create a fun personal project. The first challenge—take a self portrait. The second challenge—take a series of photos all within the same block to tell the story of that block. To add another twist, I brought Jeff along. All of the following photos were taken by us within one block near our home using a tripod and wireless remote.

Photographing infants is always a fun challenge. I certainly got the full range of emotions from little Avery during our mini session together—but in the end, it’s hard to go wrong with someone as cute as she is.

Here’s part II of my Friday photo shoot with two amazing sisters. You’d never guess that it felt like it was about 100 degrees outside—they both looked fantastic (though I may have been another story, since I made the mistake of wearing jeans that day. Oops!).

Jess and Amy have an incredible and heroic story—one that has been featured in USA Today. When Jess (on the left) needed a kidney transplant, her sister, Amy, raised more than $44,000 toward the operation through Facebook and GiveForward.org. The money was later donated to the Children’s Organ Transplant Association when Jess was approved for the surgery.
